Our Commitment to Web Accessibility
Everyone deserves to find a dentist without fighting the website first. We want our website to work well for every visitor, including people who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, or rely on magnification.
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That work is ongoing, and we would rather tell you honestly where we stand than claim we are finished.
What we have built in
The following are in place across our website today:
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can jump straight past the menu to the main content
- Full keyboard navigation — every link, menu, and form field can be reached and used without a mouse
- A visible focus outline that clearly shows which element you are on as you tab through a page
- Proper page landmarks — header, navigation, main content, and footer are marked up so assistive technology can move between regions
- One clear heading per page, with headings nested in logical order so screen reader users can navigate by structure rather than scrolling
- Descriptive alternative text on our photographs, so screen readers can convey what each image shows
- Labelled form fields on our contact form, so assistive technology announces what each field is asking for
- Text and link colours that meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio recommended for readability
- A responsive layout that reflows cleanly on phones, tablets, and desktops, and supports browser zoom up to 200% without losing content or function
- A declared page language, so screen readers use the correct pronunciation
- Support for your own settings — the site works with your browser and device accessibility tools, including zoom, reader modes, high contrast settings, and system font sizes
Where we are improving
We are actively working on the following:
- Alternative text on a small number of remaining images. A handful of photographs still need descriptions written, and we are completing those.
- Image dimensions. A few images do not yet declare their size, which can cause the page to shift slightly as it loads. We are correcting these.
- Our contact form. The message field is currently a single-line box rather than a larger text area, which makes longer messages harder to write and review. We are changing it.
- Third-party content. Our embedded map and patient review features come from outside services, which limits how much we can adjust their accessibility. We monitor them and will look at alternatives where they fall short.
- Ongoing testing. We are establishing a regular schedule of accessibility review, including evaluation with screen readers, as part of how we maintain this site.
This is part of our broader effort to make everyone's experience at Call Field Dental a welcoming and comfortable one. Please note that while we make every effort to provide information accessible for all users, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third party websites to which we may link.
